He first appeared in the 1952 Robert McKimson cartoon, "Rabbit's Kin." In this cartoon, he is trying to eat a young rabbit named "Shorty," who asks Bugs Bunny for help. He appeared in only two Golden Age cartoons. The second one is the Robert McKimson cartoon featuring Elmer Fudd. In this cartoon, Pete is called Rocko the Mountain Lion. He also appeared in many "Tiny Toon Adventures" episodes. He appeared in the 1997 Chuck Jones cartoon "Pullet Surprise." In this cartoon, he is trying to steal and eat chicken from Foghorn Leghorn. He also appeared in the 2006 movie, Bah, Humduck! A Looney Tunes Christmas". He is one of Bugs' and Daffy's best friends in "The Looney Tunes Show." He made an appearance in "Wabbit: A New Looney Tunes Production" episode "Tweet Team." He appeared in the video game "Looney Tunes Collector: Martian Revenge" as a boss fighter.

“Rabbit’s Kin” was the only theatrical release for Pete Puma. “Rabbit’s Kin” marks the first use of the “three or four” lumps of sugar gag, which heralded Pete Puma into cartoon history.

The original drawing was rendered by Juan Ortiz and the master was hand-inked by Laurie Dindis. The background was painted by Hector Martinez and reproduced using the fine art giclée process. - Clampett Studios
